THE BOSS

Every Company has a "Boss", and I'm it at ARIZONA PLUMBING SERVICES, INC. Originally from Connecticut, I came to Phoenix in July of 1988 without knowing a single person in the State!

There are several reasons I came to Phoenix:

• To be able to exercise 360 days a year.
  
• Because the explosive current and future population growth provides a better business climate than New England.
  
• Phoenix offered good cultural activities.
  
• Lower cost of living here than in the Northeast or California
• After traveling east and south from New England, Phoenix would be a good base to travel to California and the west.
  

These are a few of the things I accomplish for the Company as the Boss:

• Plan the direction of the Company.
  
• Make the financial decisions.
  
• Set and monitor ethics and policies - especially in accordance with the "Golden Rule".
  
• Set and monitor pricing and code compliance.
  
• Act as the customer's representative - always asking myself and others two questions: 1) If I were the customer would I be pleased, satisfied, or upset with how my plumbing needs were handled, and 2). How can we do it better in the future?
  
• While it is not my job to deal with daily service events, and I am not a plumber, when it is necessary I will step in and help "row the boat". (That's why we call him "The Admiral!)

I have worked here since 1988, part-time at first because I needed a second job/business to support my family. I have worked here full-time since 1996.

My favorite part of the job is seeing an employee use something I have taught them in order to please a customer.

My least favorite part of my job is having to penalize an employee for disregarding what he or she has been taught.
